I like saying things that are on my mind. It's something I think everyone should do, regardless of if it pisses people off or not. I enjoy forming my own opinions and allowing others to enlighten me with information I might have otherwise not considered. There's something human about the way we can diplomatically disagree with some things and come out of it without a drop of blood or a swinging of fists and dicks.
There's a problem, however. Not everyone enjoys hearing an opinion, especially if it conflicts with something of interest like media or political sides. When someone is told they "can't say something" because of how offensive it is, that person often instantly retorts with "FREEDOM OF SPEECH, HOMO," or some variation of that. This is all fine and good, but when THAT person whines about someone saying THEY don't like, they try and force THAT person to take back whatever was said. Here's a simple diagram:
A is offended by B; B says they have freedom of speech
B is offended by C; C says they have freedom of speech
And here's where it gets really out of order:
B tells C that they are going to report C because of the things B doesn't want to hear
What kind of backwards argument is that? An elitist, selfish tyrannical argument. To report someone for an opinion is denying them their "rights" of freedom of speech. When you flat-out tell someone that they don't get to say whatever they want, you're being oppressive and stupid. That's part of what pisses me off about people's response to SOPA; it threatens to "take away your ability to say what's on your mind," but then they go off and torrent something illegally and don't think anything is wrong about it. That's why it was enacted to begin with: Stop Online PIRACY Act, not SUPER OPPRESSIVE POLICY, ASSHOLES.
So quit telling me and others what I'm doing is against your freedom to speak, and thereafter reporting something of mine because I'm "not allowed to speak my mind on the issue." If you weren't such weak, whiny people I might have respect, BUT NOPE.
